Common dental emergencies

  • A severe toothache
  • A cracked, chipped or broken tooth
  • A knocked-out tooth
  • A lost filling or crown
  • Swelling or pain in the gums or jaw

What to do until you see us

  • Knocked-out tooth: hold it by the top, not the root. Rinse it gently, and keep it moist in milk or in your cheek. Call us right away.
  • Broken tooth: rinse with warm water and save any pieces. A cold compress on the outside of your cheek can help with swelling.
  • Lost crown: keep the crown and bring it with you.
